While “Running in High Heels” is shown in college and university classrooms throughout the year, Women’s History Month in March and the weeks before Election Day in the fall are the best times to have a campus-wide public screening to raise awareness about WOMEN AND LEADERSHIP.
Students enthusiastically report:
“It led to some heated discussions at dinner.”
“This film was AMAZING! Thank you for raising all these questions
for us and validating the discussions that so many of my friends and I are already having.”
“I am left inspired – I don’t know if I’ll run for office but I know I’ll vote differently.”
HOW IT WORKS:
If you purchase or have already purchased an institutional version of the DVD of “Running in High Heels” you are entitled to show the film to groups of up to fifty (50) people free (meaning NO admission is chargedto any portion of the event) at any time. These are the standard PUBLIC PERFORMANCE RIGHTS extended to educational institutions (and the like) for classroom use.
If you decide to hold a screening in a public auditorium, we recommend that you contact us to receive a username set-up and password access to our art materials and promo guide contained in our Screening Kit.
Admission may not be charged for ANY portion of your event unless you contact us and receive specific permission.
There are only two scenarios under which you may charge admission and they require special permission directly from 52 Women:
1. To hold a benefit screening
2. To hold a regular for-profit screening
If you plan a screening under any admission charging scenarios, please read the information about Public Performance Rights below. We will be happy to work with you in all scenarios to help you arrange an event.
AN EXPLANATION OF PUBLIC PERFORMANCE RIGHTS:
DVDs sold for home use (our “Netflix” edition) are prohibited from ANY public showings including classroom use. However, institutional DVDs include Public Performance Rights which permit the owner/user to view and show the DVD to group of no more than fifty (50) people and provided NO admission is charged. For the purposes of a benefit event, Maryann Breschard/52 Women will provide you with a Public Performance Waiver License enabling you to screen the film for an audience of up to 250 people and to permit you to charge admission. After the waiver expires, the DVD is yours for your institution’s future use. However, after your waiver expires regular Public Performance rules apply and you can only show the film to groups of fewer than 50 people and NO ADMISSION may be charged.
In order for us to provide you with your Public Performance Waiver License, we will need to know the date of your event, the capacity of your venue, the admission you plan to charge, and the organization it will benefit.
